Pros
Fast-paced/honest work, benefits, coworkers are enjoyable to be around, company is slowly improving its IT, positive attitude from corporate and higher ups, good vaccation/personal day accrual rate, cultural acceptance, diversity in work place, communication from corporation office to store is much improved from when I started, good for kids in college
Cons
Pay, raises are hard to come by and are very minimal when received, lack of help, online hiring process makes it hard to find the help needed, not recommended for adults looking for career in moving up in company, benefits are good until you need medication and have to pay out-of-pocket for them, warehouse is a mess, receive late trucks at least three to four times a month, the enjoyment I once had working for the company had dwindled to nothing over my time there, customer covid/mask policy, work-to-life ratio, retail hours, scheduling close-opens, no career path from store to corporate office or other positions through the company, stressful
Advice to Management
Pay your employees more. Make start off pay more. Maybe there won't be a mass exodus of strong in-store workers if you do so. If there ever is a mass exodus like you have seen for the past year or so, a higher new-hire-pay will benefit in finding needed help. When I was going through the hiring process there were fifty people waiting in front of me for a half an hour before the hiring event even started to get to talk to a DM. There were well over two-hundred people at the warehouse hiring event I attended also prior to that. People WANTED to work for ALDI then. Now, we're lucky if we get four for an in-store tour. The online application process is a joke compared to the old method of just having hiring events prior to store open. I would suggest ALDI return back to the older method. Start off pay was $13/hr when I was hired while minimum wage was $8.25. Now start-off is $14 for associates I think? Minimum wage for Illinois is $11/hr. A $1.75 for someone who works 32-40hr a week is substantial for someone maybe looking for a new job. Don't worry about raising the referral bonus we get if we help you find a person worth hiring. It'd be best to just pay your employees and new hires more and call it a day. Can afford to make all these advancements and futured advancements in IT and store renovations(including the corner cutting with raw material shortages) but we can't afford to pay employees a few extra dollars to ensure they and their work feel appreciated and valued. The company has slowly fallen from its once sought-after positions to a regular employer. Don't expect it to change if the pay doesn't and don't be shocked when the tenured leads and assistant managers leave like I have.

Pros
10 days per month work from home permanent benefit
Cons
No work life balance in Finance. Because of the work from home benefit, management expects us to work beyond normal hours and log on to do 'urgent tasks', when these tasks can be done the next day. Transferring to a different department is discouraged, and if it is approved, transition is difficult and takes a long time. Since senior management is comprised of new, young people, they are interested in their own advancement instead of the employees' welfare and well-being. Culture has definitely deteriorated over time.
