How is management perceived at ASDA?

Pros

You can go home and forget about the job.

Cons

You CAN go home and forget about the job, but you're treated so badly by the management that all you can think about is the fact you still have to go back! Training of new staff is pitiful; put with someone for one day then left on their own. Store managers try to make a name for themselves by driving everyone below them into the ground and the deputy managers, with few exceptions, are usually so weak willed that they feel forced to become clones of the store manager to carry out his orders, often against their nature.

Advice to Management

Remember that it's the colleagues that make or break the store. Treat them well and they'll bend over backwards for you, but the way the stores are run (especially those stores which are used as stepping stones for managers promotion) all you do is alenate staff which leads to a high turnover rate, which must be costing the company a huge amount of money. In 6 years we've have 5 new store managers and the only one that was any good was the first one, who took the time to know everyone and say hello. Many people still keep in touch with him. Two of the remaining 4 I never even spoke to before they left for a bigger store, the other 2 I think I only spoke to once. Work every shift over the first say 2 weeks, get to know your staff and let them get to know you.
