What is overtime like at ASDA?

Pros

Some great colleagues and a decent job for a student looking to earn some extra money

Cons

There is a massive divide between senior managers and everyone else. You can be called into work at very short notice and don't get appreciated for doing so. They tend to offer 1 day a week contracts almost forcing you to work overtime but because your contracted hours are below a certain threshold, you don't qualify for benefits such as pension scheme

Advice to Management

Need to be more friendly and approachable to staff and need to show more appreciation to hard workers who cover a lot of extra shifts.

Does ASDA reimburse for mileage?

Pros

• Good rewards package, including car allowance, sharesave, pension and 10% discount card • Access to a large training budget

Cons

• Company values are drummed into you from day one but most people, especially management, do not live up to these • Most managers do not speak to you or even break out a smile • The risk of job losses is an ever present issue and when it comes people are treated awfully and with little to no consultation • If your face doesn’t fit you won’t last long - problem being that you won’t know until it’s too late

Advice to Management

• Make sure the values you cherish are being lived up to by ALL your people

How are flexible working hours at ASDA?

Pros

Flexible working hours, plenty of overtime to do, the job is easy and mostly stress free if you don't pick up extra responsibilities

Cons

It can be physically demanding, the trolleys get very heavy and some are tall so you may not be able to see over them fully.

Advice to Management

More managers in per day so there is less stress on them.
