Does Advanced have a pension plan?

Pros

Great team, amazing work environment. The office is bright with daylight throughout the entire day. Free coffee and fruit. Huge park outside office building allows lunch-time walks with colleagues. I have been given opportunities to develop new skills, take part in many projects and have always been asked whether workload is too much or not. It's good to feel human since making mistakes is not frowned upon. This experience is within the marketing team, cannot say whether same applies in different departments or managers. I have been allowed to work from home whenever something comes up. My hard work has always been acknowledged by my manager. There is a pension scheme where I give up 5% of my salary and Advanced contributes the same amount to my pension, so I get 10% at the cost of 5%. Amazing. The new Business Operations Development Programme I am taking part in allows people without the specific qualification needed for the role to apply and get the chance to learn at work. Every 6 months you get a review and if you are doing good, you get a salary increment. That happens until the 18th month. From then on, you get a salary review each year. Employees get an annual bonus each April depending on how well the business is doing and how well has the employee performed. Quite fair I would say. Once a year, best-performers from each section of the business have the chance to go on a holiday abroad, like Dubrovnik for example, paid by the company. Advanced has events incredibly often, like yoga or tents outside the office selling wurst. We do charity work once per year, where instead of working in the office, a team is sent to work at a charity venue the entire day and you still get paid as if you were in office, whilst contributing to society. We also often do Charity Bake-offs where people can bring in pastry and we raise money for charity. And many many more similar things. We also have 25 days of holiday without counting any bank holidays, of course.

Cons

Maybe make career progression within the company a bit easier rather than just waiting for a spot to open up. Employees can get a job title change after a review turns out good enough.

Advice to Management

None for now. Keep up the good work and the way you treat newcomers.

Does Advanced offer parental leave?

Pros

- Central location - Free tea and coffee - Good stepping stone for people who are fresh out of university - Some great colleagues. To all you beautiful people, leave, don't waste your life away. Grass is greener on the other side!

Cons

- HPEL scheme is a scam to delay paying market rate for the role for as long as possible - Company does not act in accordance with its own HR policies - Communication between departments is virtually non-existent - Sales vs the rest of the company - Constant resource cutting causes instability and ultimately negatively affects the customers - UK development team was made redundant, developers in India have no clue - Can be a very stressful place to work at, not only because of constant staff shortages, but incompetent managers with zero people skills - During my time there, a few hard workers were let go due to one too many sick days. In the meantime, if you turn up and do minimal work, you can get away with it. - Very high turnover of staff due to reasons mentioned above - Very poor maternity policy

Advice to Management

- Please assess people's management skills prior promoting them to team leaders/managers. - Stop telling lies to newcomers: negative reviews on Glassdoor are true and accurate, from people who left the company voluntarily, not people, who were made redundant.

Very poor maternity policy

What kind of career opportunities exist at Advanced?

Pros

I loved this job, people were great in my team, supportive management in the Service Management team. Trusted to do your job and rewarded for doing it well, I enjoyed flexibility in hours to assist my work/life balance, spot bonus, recognition from managers, team away days. the free fruit is a huge plus too :) I was made to feel very valued and it was a difficult decision to leave. Lots of opportunity to move into other areas of IT, the business and the group if you want it also.

Cons

I left solely due to financial reasons so pay could be improved on in some roles. But overall for Advanced as a company I have no cons and would recommend anyone join.

Advice to Management

Ensure that there are consequences for any poor performance so that you can continue to drive the service excellence in the right direction. Fight for high performers in which so much time has been invested into their training and development in the business to stay, they are an asset and their experience and knowledge will help faster growth of the company.
