Does Argos offer employee discounts?

Pros

There was usually plenty to do and the work was never too difficult, even within the training stages. There is a big emphasis on selling product insurance, although this is fairly easy once you learn the basics. If you put the right effort in, you definitely grow to enjoy your time here. I had a great team while working there. Everyone seems to support one another and the work was never too stressful to cause tension between colleagues. You do get recognised for putting in more effort by management. 10% employee discount after 3 months. Simple online training, which you could also do on shift depending on how busy it was.

Cons

When the shop was less busy, hours do seem to drag. Working in the stockroom upstairs could be stressful at times too, particularly around Christmas and the Black Friday Period. Selling care was always very closely monitored by management and Team leaders. Sometimes selling cards couldn't be helped no matter how well you 'sold' them to the customer. This was always difficult for nearly all the staff in my shop, and was common belief that sometimes it did just seem like luck. Easily can find better pay in other retailers for a similar workload.

Advice to Management

Give less of an emphasis on selling product care to those 18 and below, particularly to students. At times I found this very stressful and it seemed there was an underlying impression of selling badly affecting whether or not you would have a job at the end of the period.

10% employee discount after 3 months.
