Does BAT offer massages?

Pros

Treats employees well (I was given lots of free things like ipads, pc, etc). Lots of off-site meetings. Competitive salary. Good office (pooltable, video games, cool smoking room, free beer server) Team was run more like an agency than client which has good and bad points. Get to work with some of the best AD agencies in the tob. industry. Large budgets and get to do what you want if proposal is good enough. You have a large sense of leadership and can lead projects as you like if there is a business need. Support for conference or self-training (all managers also need to pass Harvard business manager course). Less stress on sales, more focus on activation leads to less pressure in sales performance. If you are young its nice as you can do lots of business related drinking parties, team spirit can be built nicely. glo is growing share in the marketing, strong #2 contender. Very inclusive company (LGBTQ+, Female friendly)

Cons

Marketing team is silo'd from most of other teams. Structure of marketing team is confusing, half my teams tasks split to another team for no reason and cannot take them back. Lots of office politics and infighting behind the scenes. Round-robin style environment leading you to switch your position or brand very suddenly without warning. Some bottom-feeders that are not passionate in their work and jump in to take credit. Disconnect between upper management and middle management (not transparent in actions, leading to unclear goals). My manager was very much absent, leaving a lot of execution level work to just me. Work life balance was a bit bad. High level workload with sink or swim mentality. Promises from interviewing stages never kept after being hired (get it in writing in your contract). FMC tob. is boring and lifeless in terms of marketing, don't hire into this roll and let it die already or relegate marketing to the sales teams.

Advice to Management

Growth in the wrong places, focus more on executional level marketing resources rather than activation. Take your office politics out and understand this level of mismanagement will not allow anyone to stay long in the office. Keep hiring international members that are bilingual.

Good office (pooltable, video games, cool smoking room, free beer server)

Does BAT offer parental leave?

Pros

There is a lot of company provided resources and benefits for your personal life and growth. Tuition reimbursement is now 100%. Great parental leave program for moms and dads that have new kids. I think you get 3 months. Benefits cover life partners (you don't have to be married). The company contributes to your HSA yearly (depending on plan picked) 401K matching. There are some truly amazing leaders at this company. I've been blessed to have had some of them as my direct supervisor and Region supervisor.

Cons

Since BAT has taken over you can feel the shift in the company. Our work load was already insane. Instead of making our assignments smaller so we could manage all of the products and segments joining our portfolio they increased them all. My assignment almost tripled in size. If you don't make a certain % of your coverage each month you could lose your bonus for the quarter. This company has always had the motto that it's people were it's number one asset. With RJ we could tell that was true. It doesn't feel as true with BAT. With Covid-19 they had everyone work from home starting in March. As states opened back up they sent TMs back into the field. We travel to multiple high traffic retail locations all day (depending on your assignment, you might travel to multiple cities and counties). Employees that were high risk to severe complications from Covid could email and request to continue to work from home. They forced all high risk employees back into the field January of this year. You could no longer work from home and get paid. Cases were exploding and vaccines were right around the corner. Meanwhile they still are allowing 50% of the employees that work at home office to work from home that aren't high risk. In an office setting, where people have to follow company protocols and guidelines you are a lot safer than your high risk employees that are stuck within 6ft of people refusing to wear mask. They have to visit high traffic locations with the general public all day long. That doesn't feel like a company that cares about their employees, just their bottom line.

Advice to Management

I get that we have to move as fast as the industry is but our assignments need to be manageable. Every product launch is a reset we are doing in a store. Product launches are happening at a rate I have never seen before. Our portfolio is huge and keeps getting largers. We manage more brands than any of our competitive TMs do. We do 90%+ of all of the merchandising to reset it, every time there is a change. You say you want to pay in the top but we are doing way more work than PM reps and they make more money than us. Don't have us reset items because you want them to look different and then the very next month we have to reset it all over again because of a product launch. Combine those resets together to save time. Give us the materials we need to reset our store earlier. We aren't getting tags, coming soon cards, etc. Until 2 weeks before launches. We all have way to many stores to be able reset them all in that time line. Slow down on the Vapor POS changes. It's non-stop and adds more on our to do plates.

Great parental leave program for moms and dads that have new kids.
