What is health insurance like at BHP?

Pros

Unmatched benefits - great insurance, 6% 401K match, stock matching program, new campus with gym, flexible work schedules

Cons

Lack of communication from management at times. ALSO BHP is selling US Shale assets to BP and Merit Energy.

What is the retirement plan like at BHP?

Pros

Family oriented. Great benefits & pay. Field level bonus is 10%. Retirement 100% match up to 6%. Additional 8.5% for EFA. So you contribute 6%, and BHP contributes 14.5%.

Cons

You CANNOT put a price on safety, but they are a bit heavy on safety rules.

Does BHP offer dental insurance?

Pros

Employee Benefits (dental, vision and medical) and facilities provided are luxurious and awesome.

Cons

Constantly changing, system used are super slow yet hoping for high productivity.

Advice to Management

Take a step back, and do not rush for changes too much, please take into considerations of all risks in order to ensure smooth landing. Too much changes will affect stability.

Does BHP offer parental leave?

Pros

Flexible Work. 18weeks Primary parental leave that can be taken by both parents within 24months of childs birth. Can buy additional leave or take leave at half pay. Beautiful office.

Cons

Functions are disconnected from operations. New HR tools still clunky, however I expect that these will improve over time.

How are the career development opportunities at BHP?

Pros

Great people, culture, work schedule flexibility, perks, and career advancement opportunities. They really care about their people, and make an effort to respect work life balance.

Cons

Like any large company, change can be somewhat difficult or processes can be a bit convoluted. I don't think you can escape that, however, at a company the size of BHP.

Advice to Management

Hire me back now that oil is doing better!! Ha ha.
