What is health insurance like at BNY Mellon?

Pros

Great benefits, health insurance, pension, maternity leave etc. Good employee engagement. Good people...mostly

Cons

Promotions given on interview skills. Not merit. A lot depends on who you are...not what you do. Constant threat of redundancies

Does BNY Mellon give time off to volunteer?

Pros

Great benefits. Decent amount of vacation and paid volunteer opportunities.

Cons

Middle-level employees are grossly underpaid in some groups. Some employees deserve low pay, but in general, a promising college graduate is taken advantage of.

Does BNY Mellon offer disability insurance?

Pros

1. flexibility with most departments allowing work from home on a regular basis 2. Generous vacation time, 3. Pays 100% for short-term disability for up to 20 weeks depending on tenure 4. 401-K company match, profit sharing.

Cons

1. Salaries are well below market rate 2. Company doesn't do a great job at retaining its most talented people. 3. Long-term career opportunities are limited. 4. Technology is awful- it is impossible to get through the corporate red-tape.

Advice to Management

Senior management needs to conduct step-up interviews with junior employees to get a clear picture of what is going on. Some departments are completely dysfunctional as they have people in-charge who were promoted past their ability level and competence. These types of managers have the unique talent for draining the morale out of the organization.

What is the retirement plan like at BNY Mellon?

Pros

401k match is good and tuition program is worth taking advantage of. Dental insurance is very affordable

Cons

Under paid by a lot compared to other companies in the same industry. Very hard to move up or around the bank to a new position. Vacation time is average but all other PTO such as personal or sick days is very limited and should be increased.

Advice to Management

Spend more time with your employees. Get to know them and their career goals. Assist them in any way you can to grow and achieve their goals.
