Does Bodybuilding.com offer massages?

Pros

The gym, free supplements and benefits.

Cons

This was a 5 star company years ago. Times have changed and the true ninjas have moved on. I get it, change is inevitable; however, the people make the culture and they're all gone now. Nothing but dips with buckets now.

Does Bodybuilding.com offer dental insurance?

Pros

- Flex Time Off - Health, vision and dental insurance - Free onsite gym that’s usually empty

Cons

Unfortunately I was only with the company for a handful of months and was part of the January 2020 lay offs. Local news reported 15% of the Boise corporate office, around 100 people, were laid off so I’m not sure why some reviews have the lay off numbers so low. Regardless of my personal sap story, it’s very obvious the company is in the red and is taking their employees down with the sinking ship. Each quarter ideals change without reflection on the previous quarter. Some quarters it’s all about e-commerce, others it’s about the app. Constantly ping-ponging around tells me C-Level doesn’t know what they want. Not to mention company culture is way in the dumps. Who wants to give 110% with such a lack of job security?! Such a disappointing experience from someone who was such a BBcom fan.

Advice to Management

Don’t hire people if you know budget cuts are coming! Figure out what aspect of the business is important and stick to it for more than 3 months. You are wasting SO much talent. Stop trying to impress stakeholders with fictional numbers and remember your core audience.

Does Bodybuilding.com offer malpractice insurance?

Pros

Solid benefits with 401(k), insurance, flexible schedules, unlimited PTO. Some truly great coworkers.

Cons

It's hard to put into words just how dramatically this company has fallen from their greatest highs. Where once there was a great focus on the customer and providing them guidance and value to reach their goals, the new view towards the customer is, and this is a direct quote from the Chief Digital Officer, "Forget about them, if they aren't giving us money I don't care about them." And that really should tell you all you need to know, but it gets so much worse. Executive management disregards any employee that disagrees with them, as the CDO is absolutely certain he's the smartest guy in the room, the levels of micromanagement are through the roof, the lack of respect or collaboration from leaders to their employees can't be explained, you would have to see it to believe it. The employee turnover rate is astronomical, even without the layoffs they just went through. The 5 dysfunctions of a team are in full display here, and no one in leadership seems to be aware or care. They are circling the drain, and it is painful to watch a once great company destroy itself through mismanagement.

Advice to Management

Just give it up already. You aren't leaders in any sense of the word. You want to pay people who are unwilling to push back on your poorly thought out plans, so stop playing games, kill off all your onshore staff and outsource it to India already. Stop dangling any hope that the company will recover and be a great place with a strong culture again. Alternately, let someone else that is passionate, and understands the market and how to lead, take the reigns and see if they can undo the damage that you have done.

What is health insurance like at Bodybuilding.com?

Pros

I met some great people. Good health benefits.

Cons

Leaders dictate, and do not let their teams do their jobs. They don’t trust the people they hire and quite frequently are placing blame on individuals. I’ve never been talked to in such a disrespectful way in my entire career. There is so much turnover which makes being productive very hard. It’s not worth it.

Advice to Management

Replace them all. They are terrible human beings.

Good health benefits.
