Pros
CtM is a well structured, driven, industry leading company that is one of few organisations that truly have the customer at the heart of everything they do. The benefits and rewards packages are unlike any other company I have worked for, with employees being incredibly well cared for on top of a great salary. Career progression is important and CtM are always keen to promote from within, with every employee having the opportunity to set their own development plan with clear goals on how to achieve their next promotion or desired role. Recognition for strong performing employees is always given, even from the top of the chain. Are transfers to other offices possible with Compare The Market?
Pros
Opportunity to make an impact within the organisation Great place to grow, especially as a Junior to Senior Software Engineer Good work/life balance in most teams Pre-COVID the London office had many good social events Generally positive attitudes towards D&I coming from the top, and frequent sessions organised around specific topics. Flexible (but not full remote) working, depending on your role and team Ability to move between teams in the business
Cons
Big variance between teams, in terms of how well they are run, how exciting projects are etc. Progressing beyond Senior Software Engineer may be tricky and require a bit of luck in the form of an open position. Not many Staff Engineer positions. Sometimes poorly aligned multi-team projects. This should hopefully improved with the new operating model Some negative sentiment remains due to reorganisation Have advertised to GB News through deal with Sky
Advice to Management
The messaging sometimes paints a bit of an "exec club" picture that a lot of employees don't always relate to. In some instances it also feels like the top doesn't listen.
