What is the salary like at Compare The Market?

Pros

CtM is a well structured, driven, industry leading company that is one of few organisations that truly have the customer at the heart of everything they do. The benefits and rewards packages are unlike any other company I have worked for, with employees being incredibly well cared for on top of a great salary. Career progression is important and CtM are always keen to promote from within, with every employee having the opportunity to set their own development plan with clear goals on how to achieve their next promotion or desired role. Recognition for strong performing employees is always given, even from the top of the chain. CtM is a well known, reputable brand thanks to it's fantastic marketing and it is a truly unique place to work!

Does Compare The Market offer stock options?

Pros

- Competitive salary - Hybrid working - I attend an office very rarely, and when I do it's for good reason - Cutting edge tech, from the equipment to the technologies used by engineers - Invest in their people - Lots of space for promotion - Talented, friendly people - Great parties! - Offices are spacious and cool spaces to be in - Independent Contributor/Management tracks available (no more having to be a manager and stopping doing tech/code to get a pay rise if you're an engineer) - Committed to Diversity and Inclusion

Cons

- The split from the parent company was handled terribly. That's over now, however, and there has been a change of leadership in tech which has been a revolutionary breath of fresh air! - Centralised teams cause bottlenecks still. - A tendency for teams to over-analyse work before experimenting - waterfall dressed up as agile. Not helped by a waterfall-style system of costing projects and human resource planning. - Employee perks such as bonuses, pensions and rewards schemes struggling to stay competitive.

Advice to Management

- Encourage truly cross functional teams to deliver without bottlenecks caused by centralised teams. - Be transparent about new ways of working and ensure they are not causing MORE process rather than less. - Make sure that we take the good parts of the BGL culture and processes into CTM and pay attention to integrate those colleagues. - Reinstate the training that was available pre-covid (for example, stakeholder management, public speaking, other soft skills). These were expertly delivered and incredibly helpful, but since much of management has been recruited during Covid they are probably not aware how good they were!
