Does Czarnikow pay for a gym membership?

Pros

The work on analysis is engaging and mentally stimulating, and the environment around the company is accommodating and welcoming. Everyone is keen to help you out and you feel trusted to do your job, and also to follow your own interests to perform at the best level you can. Also, the culture around the office is very friendly, and there are many perks, like subsidised gym membership or free breakfast, which make a nice difference for work life balance. Also, there is not a culture of working excessive hours and the company respects that people have a life outside of work.

Cons

Although fairly trivial, and the office and facilities are the best I've ever worked in, I have found that near the end of the day I have sometimes got headaches because it is quite a bright environment, and so maybe some plants or less harsh lighting could help with this.

Does there seem to be diversity at Czarnikow?

Pros

Huge diversity and great range of employees • Flat organisational structure with an open-door policy • Great benefit incentives and engagement • Increasing focus on employee wellbeing and performance and development • E-learning system and company intranet to increase company knowledge and communication • HR team that focuses on both employee and organisational goals • Good location for social activities and food • Great for any individual starting their career as a Graduate or Intern

Cons

• Not for people who expect everything to be handed to them on a plate, it is a company that wants you to hit the ground running and work hard • There is not an array of organised socials throughout the year – however, people still go for drinks on some Thursday and Friday evenings • Overall, no huge concerns or cons, just depends on the type of individual you are

Advice to Management

• Perhaps more social events through the year • Keep focusing on motivation, learning and career development • Maybe some competitive aspects or incentives for the Internship/Placement Programme

• Huge diversity and great range of employees

How is management perceived at Czarnikow?

Pros

Good office location Fairly young and friendly members of staff.

Cons

Lack of structured support and progression for new joiners despite being sold this in the interview as one of the main things Czarnikow provides its employees - more of a 'pile it on top' culture. Fairly hierarchical company. Whoever has been there the longest says how things go and new ideas take a very long time to implement as a result. Middle management is poor across the board and does not provide any sort of structured guidance to their subordinates (similar to the first point). Bog standard office. Nothing fancy.

Advice to Management

Don't sell yourself as something you're not. We both know there are a number of staff members who have been at the company a long period of time and are not open to any new ideas. Best to move them on and replace them with fresh new ideas in order to grow the company further.
