How are senior leaders perceived at Dollar General?

Pros

Employees are nice and so are most customers. It is a very diverse workplace. Management seems friendly but it's a corporation so their power is very limited. If you like time-consuming busywork it can feel rewarding.

Cons

Poor pay, chronically understaffed, high employee turnover, little communication from upper management, dirty environment, always changing schedules, unnecessarily stressful, heavy bureaucracy, and a culture centered on over-working. They will randomly cut hours to meet unspoken quotas that will leave you in the store by yourself for hours. They will also pull people to help at other, somehow worse-off, stores with little notice. No emergency guidance; if you're on shift when computers go down... Good luck! They have also been slow-to-act or downright negligent about employee safety during this pandemic.

Amazing people, inclusive leaders, essential retailer, provides every day value and truly lives the mission of Serving Others from employees to customers to communities!

Cons

DG is sometimes mistakenly thought of as a store that sells $1 trinkets and that is simply not true. Dollar General Corporation has been delivering value to shoppers for more than 80 years. DG offers products to save its customers time and money including food, snacks, health and beauty aids, cleaning supplies, home goods and seasonal items in neighborhoods across the country!
