Does GetYourGuide offer parental leave?

Pros

The commute was easy enough I suppose.

Cons

My manager tried to fire me 2 days after I reqiested parental leave. I had no previous warnings or negative feedback about my performance and I was offered no severence pay. HR did not care, I took the company to court and obviously won the case without the need of a lawyer and was put on garden leave until my parental leave , my contract ran out during my parental leave and was obviously not renewed. Im not the first person who was treated like this it is just part of the culture there and it is pushed by the founders and HR have no problem with it. You have to really suck up to your manager and tell them how amazing they and the company are and if they get even a hint that you may have more important things in life like family health or a moral code then you will quickly be removed. They like to put a pretty face on the company and claim to respect their employees bla bla but it is a very nasty and toxic environment, I am glad to be away from there and I am looking forward to seeing the company go bankrupt.

How are promotions handled at GetYourGuide?

Pros

tried hard to put somethings here that you wont find in any average startup that is a Pro ; Almost None ; May be , not dying in that old suffocating building could be a Pro after all ; A lot of good people left recently , so may be you will be a rockstar even if you don't work- this is another pro ;

Cons

Senior mgmt fancies to build a Netflix by bringing in 'Keeper' test without giving FnR or empowerment ; They have hired some folks from Silicon valley but do not want to change anything else; and hope that things will change magically; Even those they have hired are morons and overfitted in the roles, especially the grumpy CTO. Some junior engineers are paid more than very senior ops folks just because no one questions or is smart enough to question ; Promotions and salaries are more random than Berlin weather !

Advice to Management

Be true to yourself and value employees a little more ; Don't be arrogant , you have just started, you really have nothing to boast of , as yet !! Get real ! Don't hire from big companies if you can't handle change ; Fire the so called senior mgmt Old farts who were hired to support 50 member company ; you need better talent now ;
