What is the retirement plan like at Hendrickson?

Pros

Hendrickson of Hebron Ohio is a great company overall to work for. I have been with Hendrickson of Hebron Ohio for 5 years now. They offer good benefits that don't break the bank and a starting vacation balance of 2 weeks for new employees. 401k and pension plan are given to any full-time associate. They offer a scholarship program that allows you $5250 per the calendar year to go toward and degree you long to obtain. They value your health concerns enough they had brought in an external company to evaluate each work center to ensure you are not lifting or completing a task too big for one person. They have family get-togethers whether it be zoo light, picnics, golf outings, r even company bowling. Overall I believe Hendrickson of Hebron Ohio is a great company to work for and they do try what they can to ensure that you are happy at the end of the day.

Cons

50+ hour work weeks tend to be normal with only a chance of 2 hours of personal time if you do not take an attendance issue. Vacation days only pay for an 8 hour day even if you are mandatory to work 10 hours. Health coverage does not cover vision. Tight work stations allow for little to no room to complete your task at hand and when telling project manager (Gabe) details of the issue that may arise it gets shot down because WE are not being open to the changes he made even if it may go against company policies. Overall I do believe that they are trying to work out a few things but a change in management might have to be a start in order to get the employees back to being satisfied on a daily basis.

Advice to Management

Don't make empty promises to an employee if they want to move up. Worked many projects at the same time juggling my everyday job to show I had what it took to move up to be told I didn't have the knowledge for the position. In return, they gave the position away to somebody that had no idea what they were doing and I had to train them on their tasks.

401k and pension plan are given to any full-time associate.

How are the career development opportunities at Hendrickson?

Pros

Unfortunately, no pros to talk about here.

Cons

1) Very dishonest people (management), they would make you promises in the first place and change their words later. 2) No work-life balance (They don't even like to talk about flexible work schedule). 3) The upper management at Hendrickson is being run by bullies and they talk to people crazy (screaming at people is a norm here), it is a very toxic work environment. 4) If you want to work here be prepared to get pushed to your limits frequently. 5) No respect for employees from the management side and Senior Engineers. 6) A lot of Micromanagement. 6) Zero career opportunities. 7) Below average compensations & benefits. No bonus and only 10 paid vacation days upon hire regardless of your previous years of experience or higher PTO with your previous company. 8) Very old school culture and work environment. 9) They don't value higher education or more scientific approaches for solving complex problems and bright ideas (from younger engineers). Simply, the management doesn't like any change and you would hear this from them frequently "We have been doing it this way for a long time and it works". 9) Don't expect to learn new and cutting-edge technology/engineering knowledge in this company as they are working on a +120 years old technology (Passive suspension systems).

Advice to Management

Be honest with your employees and keep your words. Also treat your employees with respect rather than pushing them to the limits. Change your old school mentality and provide your employees with a flexible work schedule. At the last but not the least, you should count new employee's previous years of experience with other companies and provide them with a competitive PTO instead of offering them with only 10 paid vacation days (For my case, my PTO was downgraded from 15 days with my previous company to only 10 days with Hendrickson).

6) Zero career opportunities.
