Does Home Office offer unlimited holiday?

Pros

- Large amount of varied and interesting international travel - Good work/ life balance and compensation or time off in lieu for large periods away from home - Good training programmes - Largely interesting & challenging work

Cons

- Opaque management decisions, with many managers seemingly in their position because of length of time served rather than competence. - Poor communication from the centre. - Few possibilities to grow professionally or gain promotion. - Very questionable values as an organisation. Particularly around overseas aid.

Advice to Management

Develop your staff by allowing them to grow within the organisation. I saw a lot of EOs with the skills and EQ to be fantastic managers. There are a lot of very talented, multilingual people with a wide set of skills in your organisation who are stuck in dead end jobs. Encourage ambition and retain some of your staff.
