What are meetings like at Huler?

Pros

After 5 years in my previous role, the thought of having an interview was very daunting, especially during lockdown... but how wrong was I?? The interview process started with a timed technical test which couldn't have landed in my inbox at a more inappropriate time, however MCG have been more than understanding and I was able to defer it by a couple more days. This was shortly followed by a 2 part video interview over teams with HR and the dev team. This is was going to be my first glimpse into the company and their culture. I didn't know what to expect. And then I met Suzi who greeted me with this big smile and a really friendly face. Okay I am a bit more relaxed now but still shaking and constantly fidgeting with this pen I had on my desk... Luckily her approach got the conversation going and the rest is a bit blurry but I GOT THE JOB!!! Thanks Suzi! One thing I can honestly say is that I was really pleased with the interview format as well as the technical challenge. It was different and nothing like the scripted interview format I was expecting. Felt like I really able to build a rapport with them. Great stuff! Next is the onboarding stage where I got to exchange a couple of emails with Ella and Cal. I really didn't know what to expect, I haven't seen or met these people in my life. Yet again the conversation just flowed and before you know it the work equipment is delivered in person to my doorstep plug in ready. Cal buddy, you get a 5 star driver rating for being able to find your way to my place. Ella deserves a shout out as well for being really helpful and making sure all the paperwork was in order and my equipment ordered and delivered. She is just a very energetic bundle of joy with a very contagious laugh and a wicked hair colour! Roll on couple more weeks of teams meetings and meeting the people... everyone is really friendly and willing to help. Am I dreaming? Where's the workplace stress? Why is everyone so laid back? 1 month into my employment I no longed have any doubts about deciding to move. Really happy to be part of a HUMAN team! Oh and the office looks absolutely mint!

Cons

I can't think of any at the moment, mind you I haven't been with the company long enough. Any chance table tennis will ever be replaced by a pool table? (insert angel emoji here)

How is the office food at Huler?

Pros

Coming from corporate, I didn’t even know that places like MCG exist. You genuinely feel the passion everyone shares for the work we do, every single person is truly nice, and none of your ideas are ever ‘too out there’. From a daily gratitude Teams channel, regular company updates, and plenty of funny GIFs and pictures in between, you feel like your belong from day one. From the interview alone, you can tell MCG is all about people. The two interviews I had - which alone were fun and very down to earth - didn’t do justice in actually giving me an idea of just how amazing working at MCG is. It’s rare to find a company where you don’t go on a work rant sometimes, but with MCG, I annoy my friends by telling them all the great things I get to do and work on. Fair to say - they’re all looking out for MCG vacancies!

Cons

Putting on a few pounds thanks to the free flowing snacks in the office! The only downside of working for a rapidly growing company is the workload, especially in marketing, but you're always given support, flexibility, and what you don't always get in most places - recognition.
