Does Iress pay for a gym membership?

Pros

Company ethos is all about improving a client's experience by us getting better at what we do. Process, tools etc. used are constantly being reviewed and improved. Great lengths are gone to in order to support staff as employees and as people. People here (at all levels in the company) are friendly, sociable and very, very knowledgeable. Hackathons. The social committee organises many great events each year (socials, craft, sports etc.). The office location is central in Cheltenham and so in walking distance to all amenities. On-site gym and fitness classes. On-site cafe.

Cons

There have been many company successes, which could be celebrated more.

On-site gym and fitness classes.

How are the career development opportunities at Iress?

Pros

Good location, benefits, salary & overtime, management communication. Middle management (team leaders not included) and HR are excellent, seem trusting in your ability to work and push you forward to improve. Excellent IT equipment and able to work from home. Some peers are professional and easy to work with. Upper Management are excellent at what they're doing and are always good at taking the company forward.

Cons

No career progression possible due to lack of movement higher-up. There appear to a minority that act childish despite their age and position in close proximity, sometimes unwilling to help at first which can cause serious consequences. Some have been there for so long they have become bitter and set in their own ways and in powerful positions despite being at the bottom of the hierarchy. Too easy to unintentionally upset some individuals which has unfair consequences. One or two managers unwilling to listen due to their ego. No appreciation for the amount of knowledge and tasks that get assigned to you and doing a good job with them. If you resign, upper management ignore you as you're no longer worth their time.

No career progression possible due to lack of movement higher-up.

How are senior leaders perceived at Iress?

Pros

- Competitive salary and benefits - Employees are friendly and gel with each-other well - Beer Friday and other office incentives make it a fun place to work - Great CEO who is approachable and friendly - The company has a lot of talented employees

Cons

- Too much change, too quickly to too many areas of the business without the right communication - Lack of internal process and structure - Lack of communication between teams - Resource and experienced employee gaps coupled with high client demand creating stress and overwhelmed employees in their roles - Lacking people leaders who have ‘people’ leading skills. They are more SMEs that have stepped into the role with no training or guidance.

Advice to Management

I would like to encourage people leaders to listen to their teams feedback as they are on the front line with clients and take responsibility in driving positive change where required. It is not about how many clients we can get through the door and how quickly we can deliver implementations. The focus has to be on ‘quality’.

- Great CEO who is approachable and friendly
