How is management perceived at Matalan Retail?

Pros

No day is the same, People , on the job trainning, values

Cons

Long hours... which you don’t get paid for, very little benefits other than 20%discount, promotions are threw at teams to be set up within a matter of hours, tight constraints on payroll... values are drummed in to you from day one, however the senior management team and board of directors do not live the values

Advice to Management

Planning in advance for promotions and sales... communicate the go live date a week in advance to allow time to prepare! Senior leaders and board of directors need to practice what they preach with the values, and need to be seen more with in the stores as many of the people who make it happen don’t even know who they are or what they do!

Is Matalan Retail a good company to work for?

Pros

Great people, sociable working environment

Cons

Limited opportunities for progression Not enough incentives for progression and rewards Can be barriers between management and employees

Advice to Management

Engage in your employees and they will respect you more and work harder for you. Without personal rewards and incentives motivation comes from wanting to work for the people around you
