What is health insurance like at Maxim Healthcare Group?

Pros

There are some very bright and very capable recruiters there who do a great job despite the overwhelming dis-functional environment. Maxim also has decent benefits including health insurance and 11 paid holidays (2 of them floating).

Cons

Dysfunctional from top (VP) to bottom (National Director). Company in less than 3 years went from a 50 person, $25 Million/Year group to where now there is barely 20 people and they'll be lucky to top $6 Million by December. They manage by bullying, unethical practices and passive aggressive emails that got so bad that a corporate representative from Human Resources came out for a "town hall" and was aghast at the stories she heard. If her report came to public light, Maxim would be looking at lawsuits. At the end of the day though, nothing was done and thus employee morale suck even lower and people are leaving weekly.

Advice to Management

The only advice I have for corporate is something I'm sure they're already considering. How long will it take them to make the changes that need to be done?

What is the retirement plan like at Maxim Healthcare Group?

Pros

There is an HSA and a somewhat 401k match, but that’s about it. You might get a raise yearly, you might not. The company is pretty selfish. Before I started, people didn’t get raises for 3 years because of their legal issues.

Cons

You literally do the job of 5 people and you’re not paid anywhere near what you should be. Look elsewhere. You might get a bonus every month, or they’ll find a way to make sure you don’t. You might get told you’ll get a promotion...or they might drag you along and let every promotion pass you by and then wonder why you leave.

Advice to Management

I don’t think this place will ever change.

There is an HSA and a somewhat 401k match, but that’s about it.

Does Maxim Healthcare Group offer pet insurance?

Pros

Your personal representative is easy to get ahold of.

Cons

Your insurance is always dependant on the number of hours you work so if you get sick you can all of a sudden not have insurance with no warning and I feel like I was mislead when I was hired about the amount of travel and the ability to be hired on by the company I am actually working for.

Advice to Management

There needs to be a lot more openness about a person's status and their expectations and also regular follow ups on the person's performance would be wonderful as well.

How are the career development opportunities at Maxim Healthcare Group?

Pros

- Responsive support team: Whenever I had a problem while with my client that required some guidance, the support staff at the office was very, very responsive. One call usually resulted in my BCBA being contacted, information added to the file, a check-up call after my session and a slew of other support protocols. I never had a situation where I called and was left hanging. - Welcoming environment: Onboarding was quick, smooth and I felt like I had a good introduction to the staff and to the BCBA's that I would be interacting with for my cases. - Lots of growth opportunities: I'm part of a committee to create and write a company-wide newsletter/resource for BT's. There are quite a few of these committee's, and there are a lot of other training and career advancement options available to BT's looking to grow. - Great pay: Can't complain about the pay, it was solid. Great benefits, good hours, the office staff is understanding if you need time off for mental health/sick days, etc. - Lots of placements: Maxim, from my perspective, has been working overtime to expand their reach in the Seattle area. This has resulted in LOTS of placement opportunities for BT's. Looking to work with younger kiddo's? Great, lots of choices there. Older kids? Perfect, I had 2-3 choices after onboarding for High School placements. - Managers are approachable: The head BCBA was very friendly, very approachable and always happy to talk with BT's. My supervising BCBA was diligent, friendly and always made time in her busy schedule to answer any questions regarding our case.

Cons

- Sense of community: There is a LOT of work going on behind the scenes to form a stronger sense of community at Maxim, but that is still in its incipient stages. It can feel a little isolating when you don't feel you know any of your colleagues. - Huge company, difficult to navigate: Maxim is...massive. There is a LOT covered during onboarding, but that one day of training really doesn't even scratch the service of what benefits are available to employees, how to access these, protocols, etc.

Advice to Management

Additional in-service training would be nice to help fill in gaps of what was covered during onboarding and what additional benefits/opportunities are available to BT's.

There are quite a few of these committee's, and there are a lot of other training and career advancement options available to BT's looking to grow.
