What is overtime like at Merlin Entertainments?
Pros
- Great staff parties - A genuinely fun place to work, always something different to do - I enjoyed the literal job itself and you'll gain some wonderful friends here - One of those places where it's encouraged to be friendly/casual with customers
Cons
- This is a great company to work for, but only if the management team is good. I've been there when management was great and it was so exciting and inspiring to be there, adhering to the company values that Merlin has. Other times different management is completely lost, overbearing, wish-washy with their rules and expectations of you and makes it an unenjoyable place to be. - As casual, great pay. As part/full time, absolutely rubbish. To think you do 10x the work with 20x the pressure and get paid less than the team you lead is absolutely laughable - Clear favouritism/prioritisation for the aquarium staff and progression of that attraction above all the other Sydney attractions - Can progress your career only to a certain extent. After that they prefer promoting people they are friends with more than people who are experienced and passionate about the role - Not much ever comes out of "having a voice". They make you feel heard but nothing really changes - Working overtime and working yourself to an unhealthy amount is an unspoken badge of honour - Middle management is expected to be able to do anything and everything in between but without the nice job title and pay.

Not the most competitive pay & benefits package Diversity and inclusion works for lower grades however not that much diversity at the top

Look at increasing the pay & benefits package to retain best employees
