Does Nominet have a pension plan?

Pros

Great place for people think they important to come get paid loads and do absolutely nothing. Reasonable pension.

Cons

Lacks joined up thinking as a result some of the skills of employees are wasted and simply ignored. Managers are just children and have a can't be bothered attitude leading to lots of last minute panic and this happens on a regular basis. If you are looking to develop skills as during my time I got no training I asked for. If your looking for career progression this is not the place for you. Tech wise the company is a decade behind the leaders and innovators.

Advice to Management

You need to come out of your offices and spend time in the business departments so you can see how it's really run. Remove the lack of professionalism in the management structure especially in the tech department. Stop forcing what needs to done to get your short term bonus and take longer term fixes. Coordinated thinking and training would make the place much better. Especially after changing the deadwood thats holding everything back Company needs to take a risk and do something bleeding edge instead of being a followers always late into the market.

Reasonable pension.

What kind of career opportunities exist at Nominet?

Pros

I've read some other reviews but I can hand on heart say that Nominet is one of the best places I have worked. I feel really cared about have have had some amazing opportunities to do great things and gain development in my role! The people are really great here - always willing to help one another - working together on exciting projects and delivering really well against super ambitious targets, projects and activities. I am always surprised by some of the team members talents and capabilities - great people who are always trying hard to make a difference. I also think one of the pro's is that we've not been frightened to make change - if its not working then time to sort things out! One of our great values - Courage!!!

Cons

There are a number of things changing in the business right now - I know I have made some in my own team - but its how you make the tweaks that make the difference ensuring people are treated in the right way. What did Einstein say about the definition of madness .... so yes - change can be disruptive and not nice when you see team members being affected - but 9 times out of 10 I've seen the business try to make a change for the better.

Advice to Management

Keep motivating and driving delivery and consistency in line with our culture - its not wrong to expect people to be part of the wider business and deliver performance and results - that's what we are here to do and if they don't like it then they are probably not right for us longer term and may find happiness elsewhere on another journey...
