Does Orders of St John Care Trust offer unlimited holiday?

Pros

I had a good team of housekeepers.

Cons

Bullying! Bullying! Bullying! And nothing getting done about it. Everyone was over worked, the residents were neglected, left in wet pads, no activities just sat in front of a tv. The company has gone so down hill from what it used to be. No over time extra pay, no extra bank holiday extra pay, Rubbish pay Staff come in still drunk and don’t even get disciplined.

Advice to Management

Open your eyes, stop trying to be everyone’s friend and actually do your job!

No over time extra pay, no extra bank holiday extra pay,

Does Orders of St John Care Trust offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Good pension scheme, average benefits package.

Cons

Expected to work very long hours - 12 hr days every day work through lunch but deduct 1 hr from pay for a lunch you never get and they know you don't get it.

Advice to Management

Try not to put all the work onto the home managers - especially during covid. every email starts with: I know you are really busy but we just need this information by lunchtime today - another 8 hrs work to do to gather the information. Then criticised for it being late.

Good pension scheme, average benefits package.

What kind of career opportunities exist at Orders of St John Care Trust?

Pros

Amazing colleagues, genuinely passionate and caring people, made some friends for life. Residents that had great stories to tell and many things to teach me.

Cons

The company is so short sighted. Sadly they do not understand that in order to retain staff they need to invest in them. This means better pay and better training opportunities to help staff to grow. I feel a bit like all care workers have their good natures taken advantage of. To top it off, when I left they charged me for the cost of my DBS after I worked for them for two years...they said this was a 'volontary deduction'. I never consented to this. This is just a small example of the sort of thing that makes employees feel dispensable and undervalued after putting their heart and souls into the work. It made me feel like I had made the right decision to leave.

Advice to Management

Please get more carers. For your homes to be happy, you need a good staff to resident ratio.

This means better pay and better training opportunities to help staff to grow.
