How are promotions handled at Robert Bird Group?

Pros

- Some absolutely brilliant people being wasted at this company. - If you play office politics you can get pay rises not based on merit and above market rate. - For some there are opportunities to work/move abroad.

Cons

- Discrimination (mainly sex and race) takes place and it's happened openly. It is part of decision making consciously and subconsciously, not just in the London office but across its global offices. There is a glass ceiling and a lack of true want for change, the SMT are the biggest problem here. - Little respect for technicians, business operations and those with life commitments other than work. - Learnt behaviour from SMT is loudest voice wins so the business values a rude and aggressive approach with knee jerk decision making over calm, considered, informed and diplomatic. - There are some managers who are good and could benefit the business hugely but they aren't supported in the right way. - The hours some people work are unreasonably long. Puts clients above employees, even when clients are unreasonable and rude. - The SMT are mostly made up of poor historic promotions and people who should've been let go but they're too chummy and don't want to deal with the problems so they stay or are given promotions/created opportunities to move the problem elsewhere. They have little discipline and a vast lack of knowledge on good business practice and planning.

Advice to Management

- Stop thinking about yourselves and genuinely listen to employees, take onboard feedback and invest in improvements, it will benefit you in the long term. - Put your egos aside and learn to discipline yourselves - Learn what good business and good employment looks like

The SMT are mostly made up of poor historic promotions and people who should've been let go but they're too chummy and don't want to deal with the problems so they stay or are given promotions/created opportunities to move the problem elsewhere.

How is management perceived at Robert Bird Group?

Pros

Seems to have good international and regional exposure to different projects when you first joined.

Cons

Open favoritism of certain employees from managers and higher management. Culture is toxic and not everyone can fit in. Have to know how to kiss up to higher up's in order to survive in the company. Wouldn't advise joiners to join if they don't know how to social and is an extrovert. Minimal training provided to employees who are actually in need. Cares more about what the employees can give to the company rather then providing needed training for them. Company not forgiving at all.

Advice to Management

Please be fair to all employees and higher management should certainly listen to concerns of subordinates. Not everyone is as smart, but hard work performed should be appreciated by those individuals rather then having them looked down upon when they are still learning.

Open favoritism of certain employees from managers and higher management.
