How is management perceived at Secret Escapes?

Pros

The office building in which the Amsterdam office is located is amazing, slap bang in the center of the city. Employees can apply for a small discount on holidays.

Cons

The lack of a clear overview of the Dutch office by a general manager is tangible. Team leads play out their grudges and try to prove themselves over the back of members of their teams. This often results in a stressful work environment in which employees deal with constantly changing procedures (seemingly changed at a whim), being micro-managed and monitored non-stop and a lack of trust between leads and employees. The company values are void in this office. Feedback by multiple staff members regarding workload and juggling too many tasks simultaneously are ignored systematically. Open and honest talks regarding work matters are not followed up or acted on, not even by HR. The result is an office culture in which progress seems unlikely and burnouts and work-related issues are ignored. Some team leads may be great, some employees feel bullied and pressured by others. Staff members come and go and agreements from contract negotiations are ignored.

Advice to Management

Great holidays sell based on great descriptions and copy. Value your Dutch content team and simply check out how many copywriters came and went in the past year. I am sure that you will come to your own conclusions.

Is Secret Escapes a good company to work for?

Pros

Too many to list.. but top of the list I would say is people!! We really have the best people throughout the company, people genuinely care and are super social! The London office where I am based is super, such a great environment and we are well taken care of! The higher management are all incredibly approachable, whatever your role is within the company they are always open to chat about anything! The perks.. the food, the healthcare, the drinks, the meditation, the quiet room, pool tables and ping pong, the epic parties... honestly, Secret Escapes loves to take care of their employees and it is clear to see! Can't recommend this place enough!

Cons

I am struggling to think of any cons to be honest! Yes, it is fast-paced and busy...but that is part of the enjoyment of being here! You see the business changing and developing right in front of your eyes and I am so grateful to be a part of the Secret Escapes journey!

Advice to Management

Keep doing what you've been doing!!
