Does Shaw Communications offer dental insurance?

Pros

- Good benefits like dental coverage, vacation pay, bonuses and etc. - Good locations and buildings in the main offices - Good place to gain experience in corporate culture - Great co-workers - Big company with room to grow and move around - Good tools to be self-sufficient in most roles

Cons

- Lots of bad "leaders" in supervisor and manager positions. Care more about themselves and their careers over the people under them. Will position themselves to not take responsibility for mistakes. These leaders will often abuse power and not be held accountable. "Leaders" protect each other in exchange for the same protection, this has really negative consequences for employees company wide. - Pay is average but this depends on the role - Each department and office is very different, lack of consistency. - Far less progressive than the company presents itself, not a lot of ways to voice concerns or make changes. - Lack of authentic diversity in management positions. Company does not truly value diversity, the higher up positions are almost exclusively held by the typical corporate white man. The people of diversity in higher positions tend to assimilate instead of bringing new voices into management. Women, people of colour, LGBT people, and others can still move up in the company but often times only by acting exactly like a typical corporate white man. Strong preference for people who do not rock the boat, that is a strong mentality in the company.

Advice to Management

Invest in proper training for leaders that reflect the values the company says it has like fairness, caring, and human. Hold leaders accountable instead of guarding people from fair criticism. Hire and promote employees that are empathic and will work for their teams instead of themselves. Focus less on stock pricing with inflated numbers and put in the hard work to get the real results. Find value in diversity instead of embracing tokenism.

- Good benefits like dental coverage, vacation pay, bonuses and etc.
