How are the career development opportunities at Sky?

Pros

Great atmosphere with work colleagues and the facilities within the building are fantastic. Good benefits to staff and opportunity of internal progression within the company if you are dedicated.

Cons

The schedule of shifts can be very unstable and you can end up working up until 20:00 on weekends fairly regular. It can be very tough to get suitable Annual leave at times.

What kind of career opportunities exist at Sky?

Pros

Fabulous benefits, good pay and reward.

Cons

Limited opportunity for development despite what you are told, lack of quality leadership in retail.

Advice to Management

Employ some real retail leaders who can make the retail division what it deserves to be, there are some amazing people who are at Sky who i'm sorry to say are completely disengaged with the business. Unreal expectations leads to low motivation, people used to care, but they won't much longer if you don't stop playing at retail and do it properly!!

Does Sky have any sort of mentoring programme?

Pros

Great healthcare plan Free Sky TV Good training program Opportunities to grow and develop Great recognition program

Cons

Inconsistency with training - the only training provided is when you join the company (depending on the role) and then if there are new products launched or something has gone wrong. The senior management team is a bit of a club - if you are not 'in' with them then kiss goodbye to development opportunities. Inconsistent senior management - on many occasions I witnessed things being swept under the carpet for employee A whilst employee B would be reprimanded. The reasons for this would vary but would be mainly be based around how well employee A or B were performing or how well they got on with the sales/service managers. I heard it would often be the case when sales managers would step in to stop or expedite a disciplinary process when it wasn't entirely based on any professional merit.

Advice to Management

Don't hold agents or team leaders to a standard you are not willing to meet. Promote learning and training (not just linkedin). Get people back in the training room on a regular basis. this will avoid having to do it every 18 months when the BS hits the fan.

Good training program

Why do Sky employees quit?

Pros

free sky while you work there but not worth it

Cons

Sexual harassment is rampant. TLs and management follow girls on social media platforms and message them inappropriately outside of office hours. Sexual advances are made in the work place and TLs sit around in groups and watch girls as they walk through the office. Very uncomfortable place to work and as all the senior management are friends of TLs there is no one to report to. This place honestly needs its on reality tv show you wouldn't believe the stuff that goes on. Open racism and ableism on the floor on a daily basis. You will come to dread your job and many staff become very depressed to the point they don't care anymore and just walk out one day - this happens all the time, no notice or procedure followed they just walk out. Drug culture is evident and encouraged. No amount of money could of kept me in that job.

Advice to Management

bring in new external management who care about employees mental health and well being

this happens all the time, no notice or procedure followed they just walk out.

How are promotions handled at Sky?

Pros

The benefits are good. If you were left alone to do your job without constant internal politics and management posturing, it would be okay.

Cons

No chance of promotion unless you are part of the chosen few. Same people are selected for promotion or projects. Looks are important. Them and us attitude from management. Virtue Signalling is more important than following through with supporting action. Its all about image. Anybody over 35 need not apply.
