Pros

- Being able to help customers is really rewarding. - Employee discount card reduces cost of grocery shopping - Competitive pay and benefits package compared with other retailers

Cons

Really the biggest pitfall I found isn't unique to this company, but there is a reason colleagues often feel stressed out and treated like a number rather than a valuable member of the team. Hard work is not recognised or appreciated. Problem individuals are not dealt with. There are a lot of bad, bullying managers whose communication is poor, and who blame their staff for their own errors to save face in front of their own bosses. Staff are required to be flexible in their availability and shift patterns are not always predictable and therefore hard to plan around. The flexibility os supposed to work both ways but rarely does. Career advancement is limited.

Advice to Management

Demonstrate the values of the company properly, treat people with respect and show that they are valued regularly. You'll get happier, more productive colleagues and customers will be better served.
