Pros

The provided a great relocation package

Cons

The most toxic work environment I have ever worked in. I never felt appreciated and have never felt more like just a number. After more than 2 years working there, I can count on hand the number of times my boss said 'Thank you'. I don't think things have improved any since I left because in my new job, I continue to run into former Unilever people.

Pros

Corporate company with corporate benefits Relocation package if moving from different country Flexible working

Cons

I was relocated for a job that didn’t exist Left a great job to join what I thought was a good role at Unilever to be told 2 weeks before joining that the role had changed and I no longer had a team. No one seemed to take my concerns seriously and despite me moving country for a job. It was a big mistake for me and has caused a blip on my otherwise perfect CV The company is slow and lacks innovation. People get promotions based on networking and not for good work. Would not recommend for top talent in a senior position from an external company. You only do well at unilever if you have been there all you your career

Advice to Management

If you are going to employ talent at Director level, do not change the job before they start the role. It’s completely unethical

Pros

- Interesting work - Managers and Directors and VPs listen and take your opinions on board

Cons

-Hard to know who to contact for HR issues. -Insultingly low pay compared to market for what you do. -having been in the business for several years always a challenge to know who the HR business partner is. - internal role changes involves several months of double hatting and eventually burning out. -HR department do no not communicate enough to make us aware of policy changes. - overheads cost cutting leading to over worked staff -in Global office shortage of seats mean you have to come in extremely early to get a seat with your team. HR is not concerned about such issues. -HR negotiating unreasonably low salaries on promotion to the point where people are leaving the business. -HR changes policies without informing anyone and expects employees to be updated with policies around maternity/ paternity/ global mobility and relocation. -slow process to get recruitment sorted out in the team to the point that the recruitment is having to be done offline. -better HR systems need for HR to carry out their job to keeping the organisational chart updated in the system costs are all over the place in wrong departments.

Advice to Management

HR strategy either needs to be changed to appreciate employees for their work or HR should at least educate and communicate more on HR strategy and policies so we understand what HR is trying to do. employees willing to help if they know the purpose of the strategy.

HR changes policies without informing anyone and expects employees to be updated with policies around maternity/ paternity/ global mobility and relocation.
