What kind of career opportunities exist at University of Nottingham?

Pros

- Lots of annual leave - Currently transitioning to being a much more progressive organisation - Permanent roles feel safe and secure - Great Vice-Chancellor

Cons

- No path to promotion or progression in middle management. The hierarchical structure means that you get stuck at the top of your Grade with no clear route or opportunity to be promoted or move up the career ladder. - Non-academic staff not treated with as much respect or as valued as their PhD-wielding counterparts. - Can feel quite isolated and disconnected from other teams and departments. Difficult to find the right support or confidante to deal with issues such as bullying.

Advice to Management

Understand and acknowledge the value of your professional services and management staff. While they don't have a PhD, they are experts in their own right. Treat them as experts and see what you can learn from them.
