How is management perceived at University of the West of England?
Pros
Good annual leave. Not expected to work outside of working hours.
Cons
In my department at least, you re applying for a job and the only way to change jobs will be at the inevitable restructure - 3 so far for me in less than 10 years. No promotion or even sideways moves, and there are constant cuts to roles. Very hierarchical. Very stressul, no recognition and teams are not properly resourced. High levels of bullying by management. management very poor and a culture of managers who are not very capable sitting in roles for decades and bullying/ blocking those more able as they feel threatened by them. Lack of creativity, innovation or technical ability.
