How is the work/life balance at Wesleyan?

Pros

Work life balance is great and salary is decent in comparison to local companies. The learning opportunities are great too, if you want to put the effort in.

Cons

The office is great in places and poor in the rest and needs updating. There is a strange negative feeling around the company at the moment and everyone openly talks about it but nothing is done. This is reflective in the glass door scores I think. The last 2 years has seen a great decline in the enjoyment of working at the place. Senior management and executive team sit on their ivory towers and dont interact with staff. When they do, it is so false. I have witnessed senior managers talking about people they want to 'get rid of' and a few weeks later they are gone.... the company had a terrible year due to the executive team making a decision to go live on a system that had thousands of defects. Customers suffered as the advisors couldn't advise and Everyone's bonus suffered, but they didnt take any ownership in the message to the people on the shop floor, instead at their annual conference an advisor told me that they all continued to get their sales bonus guaranteed for over a year, so they were ok. Honesty is sometimes the best policy. They way everyone reads it, is that if it wasnt for Rob Vaudry and his great investment and property team, we would be in trouble from an operating profit side of things, but what do I know!

Advice to Management

Decide what sort of company you want to be and communicate to the staff. Dont hide things that are plain to see and interact with staff. You are only a small company and stop using the word strategy every 5 minutes without telling us what your strategy is

How are flexible working hours at Wesleyan?

Pros

The best thing about Wesleyan is the people - both my immediate team and the wider business. I work with a fantastic team and we have a great deal of flexibility. As well as a generous benefits package, there are many opportunities for development/training and to get involved with the things that matter to you eg 2 volunteering days each year and a number of employee networks. Great city center location, very convenient for the train station. After a period of some disruption, it feels like a really exciting time to be here, with a new CEO in place.

Cons

As we're still going through a period of change, we are still waiting to see the outputs from some major projects eg new technology to enable us to better support customers.

Advice to Management

Keep listening to customers and staff alike - things are moving in the right direction.

What do employees say about the location of the Wesleyan office?

Pros

City centre location, pension, staff rates when investing

Cons

Micro management Technology investments are very the last minute - mainly due to COVID-19 Pay scales have only recently been clarified after years of confusion And to get a pay rise you practically have to beg for it Annual bonus is biased. Management give best bonuses to the favourites

Advice to Management

Leave us to do our jobs, the micromanagement is unnecessary when you haven’t completed your own to do list! Before adding extra jobs and expectations please ensure you can do the job yourself too
