What is the salary like at Wise?

Pros

Flexible hours, great office, team lunch, good benefits, great international colleagues, Summer Days

Cons

Pay is low for the profit margin and industry, not much diversity in terms of POCs, drama levels high due to a few bad apples which is common with start-up. Long hours. I do not feel very included since there are not as many of "me" within the company/office, cultural differences have caused issues for me that could of been avoided if my teammates were more familiar with my culture.

Advice to Management

Nip the drama levels in the bud. It will push great talent to leave the company due to individuals not the actual company. Be more fair with opportunities, dont offer positions to "friends" only. I have see ALOT of people get flown to offices and new jobs based on being friends with Team Leads and Senior Management. Improve the work/life balance.

Does Wise offer a monthly bonus?

Pros

PTO Company trip Paid sabbatical after 4 years Stock Personal development monthly budget

Cons

Poor communication between product and operational teams. Autonomous teams make decisions that impact other teams, and although collaboration is better, there are always so many changes happening that it’s difficult to keep up. Product teams do not prioritize fixes without data, which can be hard to track/collect. Compensation is much better than it was, however, there are very few opportunities for advancement in Tampa. The flexibility we once enjoyed with this role is gone. We are pushed harder than ever to meet instant verification metrics which means working more evening and weekend shifts. This productivity push, and lack of staffing, means you have no opportunities to work on side projects that can aid in career advancement.

Does Wise offer a weekly bonus?

Pros

Flexible work environment Loads of paid time off (5 weeks vacation, 2 weeks sick) Paid sabbatical (after 4 years of service) Paid Parental Leave (after one year of service) 401k Match NSO Stock options Freedom, ability to make an impact, drive change- Friendly environment Opportunities to participate or lead projects to move the business forward - sometimes even world-wide opportunities Diverse culture - speak 5+ foreign languages Working with people from different cultures Competitive benefits package Pet-friendly office Ability for some remote work (after 90 days) Weekly team lunches Monthly team activities / fun events

Cons

Work is very fast paced; and sometimes not for everyone Autonomous work can have it's pro's & con's; One has to be a self-motivated and driven individual to succeed. When considering internal promotions, many roles are based outside of the Americas. When considering salaries, base compensation is a factor, not overall compensation. Ensure we remain competitive in the markets.

Advice to Management

Continue the efforts of improving transparency Over-communicate to Wisers when possible Increased transparency with wages, market analysis, etc. Continue to share knowledge regarding career paths, other potential, etc.

What are other benefits and incentives like at Wise?

Pros

Fair compensation - I'm not sure if this is a pro or a con. They will give you a fair compensation based on your market, however, you will definitely get better offers from other companies. Challenging work - TransferWise is growing and with that comes scaling problems. You will learn a lot about how scaling should be or should not be done.

Cons

Autonomous Teams - Somehow this is a little bit of pro, although in TransferWise's case teams are so autonomous that it affects cross-team communication very badly. Teams will move fast without even considering how it will affect other teams. Politics - Even though, from the outside, it seems TransferWise is a startup, I would say that it is not and there's a lot of "politicking" going around. "No drama. Good karma." is the least true of TransferWise's core values. There is a lot of drama, it's just that people tend to not call it out.

They will give you a fair compensation based on your market, however, you will definitely get better offers from other companies.

Does Wise offer a yearly bonus?

Pros

Pros: - flexible working hours. - 1.5 or double pay during the public holidays if you wish to work - opportunity to travel and meet co workers in the other parts of the world. subjected to management's approval. also during company event.

Cons

cons: - no dental and optical benefits for the Malaysian office, which is unfortunate as I need to change glasses every two years. hopefully TW can look into this. - no yearly bonus but there is a stock grant offered so not too bad if you intend to work here for longer period. - micromanagement from some seniors could really demotivate a person to work - slow response

no yearly bonus but there is a stock grant offered so not too bad if you intend to work here for longer period.
