I applied for an Underwriter position with AmTrust. My initial call with the recruiter went very well, and I was scheduled to meet with one of the hiring managers. The interview lasted nearly an hour and felt positive, conversational, professional, and engaging. The hiring manager expressed enthusiasm about my background and experience, mentioning that I would be meeting with another manager soon and that the recruiter would follow up.
After a week with no update, I contacted the recruiter for a status update. Later that evening, I received a generic rejection email with no explanation or feedback.
I have heard from others in the industry that AmTrust has a reputation for being disorganized internally, and based on my interview experience, I believe there is some truth to that. The lack of communication, follow-through, and consistency throughout the process reflects poorly on the company’s professionalism.
I would advise applicants to be cautious when applying for positions that appear to be reposted frequently, as this may indicate larger issues within the organization.

Ghosted! 2x. My fault for applying a second time. I was ghosted after interviewing with the hiring manager both times, not just getting no response after applying. It happened about a year ago when I applied the first time, and then again a year later. Really disappointing because I thought this was a really good company, but I can’t even get a response after following up. So, I technically have not been rejected 2x, I am just still waiting to hear back a year later I guess. Advice to recruiters…update candidates on their status even if it is a decline. We put our time and our hearts into interviewing with hopes of getting selected. Have a little courtesy and let us know what is going on.
