American Express Senior Software Development Engineer interview questions

Got contacted by someone from the recruitment team a few days after applying and agreed an initial phone interview. On the email she also asked me to confirm my salary expectation and other info. During the phone interview, she started by saying: "your salary expectations are to high, and if you don't think you can flex, we can end this call now". Not a great image of the company to be honest. Even after saying I was open to discussing, she said she would be in touch within a week with next steps, but completely disappeared after that.
