I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Ancestry in Feb 2023
Interview
I went through a total of 6 or 7 rounds of interviews over 4 months. It started with a talk with the recruiter, who initially said the pay was lower than what was advertised, but when I considered backing out, they said they could be flexible. After that, I had a meeting with the hiring manager and then gave a presentation to the team, which took a lot of time to prepare. This all happened within 3 to 4 weeks. After the presentation, they stopped contacting me for a while, and when I followed up, they said the hiring manager was traveling internationally. A month later, they asked me to speak with a couple of other people involved in the process, but then they went silent again. When I followed up again, they still said the hiring manager was traveling. Eventually, they got back to me and asked me to connect with one of the VPs. Throughout all the interviews, everyone seemed to like me and thought I had the right skills and experience they were looking for. I spoke with the recruiter again, and he said the team liked me but needed more time to make a decision. Finally, after a long, frustrating wait, I learned that they had already made the decision not to fill the role at all. What a colossal waste of time and energy! This whole interview process was an absolute nightmare, and the lack of respect and transparency from the company was simply appalling. They clearly have no regard for candidates' time.
