I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Ares Management (New York, NY) in Jan 2025
Interview
The process lasted more than 3 months. Initial phone screen with HR and then two rounds of interviews with team. First one with two associates/VPs and second with another VP and MD. First one focused more on past experiences, while final round was focused on how your past experiences align with what they are looking across different PE asset classes. The entire time the VP wanted to sound smart and try to spin one of my past experiences into how it could be relevant for this one asset class that he knew best. After realizing I couldn't combine what I knew vs. what he wants, the MD finally spoke and it was to excuse himself from the interview. He left halfway through the interview and I never heard from them again.
1st Round was a super day with 3 back-to-back interviews.
The interviewers were very nice and easy to talk to, they asked high level questions about my experience to gauge how it could connect to the open role.
