Be forewarned—an intense, exhaustive interview experience awaits you!
I was contacted by a very friendly HR representative who put me through a behavioural-style Q&A before informing me that this position would require a seven-stage interview process. I asked myself right away, "Did he say seven?" My mouth was agape at this point. Anyway, over the course of the long, drawn-out, and protracted 5-week hiring process for one admin role, there were numerous emails and zoom calls to set up interview times, dates, yada yada. Anyone would think I was applying for a role in FBI but I stuck with it.
I took a test, signed an NDA, visited the office, and participated in six interviews with staff members across the globe. And then after all of this palaver, I was informed after the SIX interview mind you, that the job spec had changed and I would not be going through to the final round.
Hmmm.. what the heck?! I was totally gob-smacked because, in addition to everything else, I naively believed I stood a real good chance, the feedback after each interview was all positive, so maybe I read the signs wrong?? Why else would you keep folks hanging around for weeks on end??
And to top it off I put my life on hold for almost six weeks going back and forth with this company,
so I was completely blind-sighted, worn out, depleted and so drained by the whole entire experience.
Betterup, a platform for coaching and mental health! The irony!!
The harshest slap in the face I've ever experienced, and a complete waste of time!
