      Channel Account Executive Interview

      4 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Birdeye (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2025

      Interview

Terrible experience. The woman (recruiter) who reached out to me on LinkedIn booked time with me for an initial call. The day of our call she sent me a Follow-Up InMail asking if I was still interested in meeting with her to discuss the opportunity. When I spoke with her she said, "I didn't see our call in my calendar". This woman is based out of Dallas, TX and has been in her role for 6-7 months. She apologized for driving while on our call. Apparently, she did not see the time booked to meet with me in advance. She was leaving the office and claimed she would be home shortly. The call was informative going over the role and covering my background. I mentioned interviewing with another company and asked if we could set time for me to meet with the VP of Channel before Monday, she said yes. She looked over his calendar and told me we would schedule for Friday at 1:30pm and she would let me know if we had to pick a different date or time. She requested I send over my resume and on her end she would schedule my next call. I did not receive the calendar invite for Friday. Next day, I emailed her for an update on whether I would still be meeting with the VP on Friday. She told me she was waiting to for her VP to confirm that date and time. Three days later, no update, no meeting set. I sent her the, "is this still an opportunity I should be considering email" after mentioning not hearing back from her regarding the agreed next step we had discussed. She never replied back. Overall, the experience was negative due to the unprofessionalism of timeliness and ghosting candidates. If I wasn't the best fit that's fine. The appropriate step for any company should be notifying the candidate on why they will not be moving forward with the rest of the interviewing process. If a date and time has been mentioned regarding a next step an update should always be provided on or before that specific arrangement. If I were hired, this is the exact same standard my manager would require me to have with any prospect I am communicating with. Hypothetically speaking, I would represent Birdeye negatively if I left prospects in the dark for whatever the reason i.e. out of office, identified there is no value to close, didn't get a response from my VP about next steps. It shows a major lack of consideration for the quality of work you are providing. It's the principal of handling every interaction with integrity and not wasting anyone's time or resources in the process. This role is a three step interview process. Initial call with a recruiter, then a call with the VP of Channel sales and a final round with the VP of Channel and Head of Channel sales giving a presentation of how you would hold a discovery call to set the next meeting.
