First, the HR recruiter, Zohar, called me and asked several questions about my background, followed by a few technical questions such as the difference between average and median, and the difference between a LEFT JOIN and an INNER JOIN.
The next day, she called again to schedule a technical interview with their data analyst, Harel.
The technical interview itself was highly unprofessional. From the very beginning, he behaved arrogantly and seemed focused on trying to fail me with irrelevant questions—for example, asking whether a CROSS JOIN includes an ON clause—without giving me the opportunity to write any code or properly demonstrate my skills.
Overall, the way the interview was conducted reflects poorly on the startup’s culture. There was no structure, no clear evaluation criteria, and the interaction felt disrespectful and misaligned with the role’s stated requirements.
