We are sorry that you felt your Interview at Code was not a positive experience. We take a lot of time, effort and pride in looking for the best “modern engineers” to join our highly capable product teams.
Our Interviews have 2 clear sections:
Firstly to clearly discuss our Vision and the way Code are changing to be different from traditional “Agencies”, so that we are very clear that they will be empowered to make change using Lean thinking methodologies and high quality software principles – so being able to show experience in this is very important – however not essential.
Secondly, we perform a “technical paring session” around a very common modern engineering practice - “Kata” (highly embraced by the tech community) – where we look for candidates to employ best practice TDD - Red Green & Refactor steps, and a keen understanding of clean code. At a Senior Software Developer grade & salary expectation, we should see high quality modern engineering principles to be demonstrated as a minimum – otherwise we risk the introduction of debt, waste & bad practice.
Post interview, we always take time to give detailed feedback – Positive or Constructive, with specific advice or recommendations tailored to the candidate – this is above and beyond many employers.
We recognise that how our feedback is delivered to the candidate may differ or not be as we intended if performed via a Recruitment Agency - so apologise if this was not done in the right way.
