Registered Nurse Interview

Interview

Hiring was done on a demand basis, and not on candidate qualifications. They felt they needed a warm body to fill a position-not a qualified person who can speak English and know the customs of the job and community. They gloss over important areas like education, skills, personal qualities, is this person trustworthy, can this person show integrity and grace and be able to stay away from their I-Pad phone and be dedicated to the patients instead of degenerates who throw out medications like candy on Halloween and sit at the desk and talk of their social lives while the patients wait for
service. Expect long wait times before any word is handed down about employment, and don't expect wage negotiation.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Extendicare in June 2012.

    Interview

The interview with this company was quick and personable. I met the director of nursing and the administrator of the long-term care facility. Completed a tour with the staff coordinator and was given an application packet. The facility was very clean, well organized, professional, with genuinely happy clients. After turning in my application the next day, I was offered the position. Unfortunately, I have a monitoring authority over my license and once this was explained, it was clear that it had to be further discussed with the leadership of the facility. Cordially, I thanked them for their time and insisted they process the application and then let me know. Overall, the staff and the clients were happy all supporting a minimal stress level work environment. Definetly, a company I would recommend and wish to work for in the future.
