Interview

the panel was not interested about my personality but only to the questionaire that they had to fill out. I have required a feedback and they just gave me a lecture on how my answers did not match their scoring point. Weird! I am happy that I was not selected because I would not work for a such impersonal company

Interview was a 1 to 1. Interview went ok... nothing great. Was very straight forward and role explained well etc. I found other discussions were focused on to much and started to lose interest. When i left i wasn't offered a position which was fine BUT i was only emailed not called. If i didn't check my emails regularly i wouldn't see.

Interview

I applied online and a few days after the closing, I was contacted by a member of the recruitment team who invited me to do two tests: A checking test and verbal reasoning test. I felt I might have failed the checking test at some points so I didn't dwell too much on the application until the following week when the recruiter got back in touch with me to invite me for an interview, I turned down the initial date as I was unavailable, however the recruiter so kindly rescheduled it to accommodate my availability. I was not told to bring anything to the interview, the recruiter helpfully advised me to research the company in detail which I did. At the interview I was met by one of the interviewers who is actually an HR Administrator and is the one who's being replaced. I got into the interview room and was asked series of questions which lasted about an hour, they asked how I was for time as they wanted me to meet others in the team who were both lovely. It was a relatively nice interview, however I was informed that the next and final candidate was being interviewed 11 days later which let me know that I would not be getting the job as that person was most likely the desired candidate / internal candidate. UPDATE: I was contacted 13 days after the interview to be notified that I had been unsuccessful, the hiring manager contacted me the following day to inform me that should I want feedback she'd be more than happy to provide it. It is likely that I will apply to GTR again in the future.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway) (Croydon, England) in May 2019

Interview

I was put forward via a Recruitment Agency. The entire process took around 4 weeks and I never heard back! The interviewers were polite enough, they asked me to complete an online psychometric test after the 1st stage interview. During the 2nd stage we discussed my results, everything went fine and both interviewers gave positive feedback. I asked if they would share the results of my test, the confirmed with yes. That was approximately 6 months ago and I have never heard back from either the agency or hiring manager. Terrible experience. Think twice about applying to work for GTR as with my personal experience it was a complete waste of time!

Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway) (Croydon, England) in Aug 2018

Interview

The next month a number of jobs were advertised on the Govia website and they were looking for trainee timetablers. So, I decided to apply for the position and the first stage was filling in an online application form. This was relatively straight forward, I received the following notification from them to confirm that my application had been submitted. Application shortlist confirmation A week or so later I received an email to confirm that I had been shortlisted to attend an assessment day and I had to schedule a day I was free to complete my assessment as shown here. Assessment shortlisting email I received another notification as shown here to confirm that my assessment day had been booked for 20 August 2018 at the Govia headquarters in Croydon, London. Application Shortlist Email Booking I attended the assessment day on the Monday and there were a group of 6 candidates. The day was hosted by a lady called Madeline and the assessment lasted for 45 minutes in total. The first thing she stated was that the salary was 20k per year and this was non-negotiable we will come back to this truth or lie later. I kept thinking to myself that this was a very unusual thing to say at the start of an assessment day. It was akin to being 13-year-old in a classroom test and being told that you cannot ask for a time extension for an exam. The assessment was divided in to 3 sections the first section included a series of timetables on the Great Northern route and there were reams of 6 paper timetables. The objective was to find out how many train drivers or crew it would take to run the timetable. This process was extremely challenging and it had to be completed in 15 minutes. The next section was comprised of the following: network rail had made a number of changes to the timetable in fact they had made 9 changes and how would this affect your answer to the previous question? And the final 2 questions were to do with a passenger journey from Sutton to Gatwick and there were reams of timetables that we had to use to work out what trains they needed to catch in order to get there for a flight. I managed to get to the penultimate question towards the end and we all had to explain our reasoning behind our answers. I walked out of there in a daze and I spoke to a lot of the other candidates, most of them said that they couldn’t event finish section 1. I arrived home and I checked the website once again to see what other jobs Govia were offering and I was flabbergasted to find that they had re-advertised the trainee timetable planner job for 25k.
