Had a recruiter reach out to discuss a role at Gitlab. Wasn't really looking but decided to have an initial call with the hiring manager, he was a nice guy but the call was not personal at all. Just went through the motions no opportunity to build some sort of connection. Heard positive feedback throughout the call and then we get to salary, they were offering roughly 60k less then what I was making. I understand that with a remote position you will have to take a little less but it was a pretty big gap.
After expressing that my salary level was way off he tries to convince me to still pursue the role. If at any point the call was enjoyable and I had a compelling enough reason to join the company I might have considered taking a pay cut, but none of that happened. After my interaction with the hiring manager and reading about the work environment here plus the low salary this was clearly a no for me. Told the hiring manager I would think about the role as to not hurt his feelings but too many negatives to outweigh the positive. Much better options out there in my opinion
