      Devops Engineer Interview

      7 Sept 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GoDaddy in Aug 2021

      Interview

There are three stages of interviews and all of them went very smoothly. The reason I am leaving a bad review is that I wasn't informed about the exact reason for rejection. Instead, they sent me a generic email claiming they will move forward with other candidates. I find this quite disrespectful considering the 3 interviews I had until that moment. My impression about this company was great especially with the fact they don't ask too many tech questions and you also don't need much experience for this role. That's what I was told in all 3 interviews. However, that last moment was like the worst thing that could have happened. I would rather appreciate a more specific reason for the rejection so I could know what points to do better next time. Also, I received the last feedback from their recruiting team instead of the recruiter that was notifying me all the time. This however doesn't mean the company is bad. I just didn't like the last approach I received. It's very odd.

      Devops Engineer Interview

      3 Feb 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tempe, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GoDaddy (Tempe, AZ) in Dec 2016

      Interview

Applied online for the role of DevOps Engineer and received an email to set up some time for an initial phone screen with the recruiter. After the phone call, I was given a take home coding test via email with a deadline of few hours. The coding challenge was simple, it required to parse through a log file and print relevant information. Within a few minutes of submitting the code, I got a standard rejection letter and upon follow up I was told to go back and read the instructions. The code worked fine, printing all the information as asked in the instructions but I think I missed one thing in the instruction manual which was not very clear. I thought of following up again but with the first email I received being so rude, I decided not to. I felt like I wasted my time working on the problem. This is not my first bad experience with the company. Previously I had applied for the position of Site Reliability Engineer where I had two rounds of interviews, first with the recruiter and the second with the hiring manager. The hiring manager round mostly consisted 'yes/no' type questions and questions like 'rate yourself on a scale of 10 in various tools and technologies' and finally ended the call with the question of 'what is internet'. Never heard back!! Quite sad and disappointing!!

Thanks for writing about your experience in being vetted for one our Site Reliability Engineer openings here at GoDaddy. For the coding portion, we do use a developed technical challenge that is used across all similar open positions. The instructions to take the challenge are identical for all recipients. The fact that you couldn't find an error before submitting is disconcerting and we'll have them reviewed for clarity. I also apologize for not hearing back on the outcome of your second interview. Our practice is to notify everyone of their their outcome at least by email, whether they pass or note. I'll be reviewing this practice with our recruiting team.
