      Cyber Security Engineer Interview

      I interviewed at Inverid (Amsterdam)

      Interview

Here is the corrected grammar: I had to literally beg over emails to have a chance for an interview where the CISO and a pentester were present. I said it would be a dream job and I would be happy to be part of the team. I shared several technologies, even from the competition like WorldID that they had never heard of (and they are a digital ID company. So, really?). I shared my excitement to help the team and work with researchers to help develop the technology further, but I received a rejection saying I was not interested in the work they are doing there. But how could I not be interested if I applied for the role, explicitly said it would be a dream job, and literally begged for an interview? Plus, I shared competitors in their own field that they were not even aware of. Like a CISO and a pentester do not know a company owned by Sam Altman and OpenAI in their own field? And I'm not interested in their technology? Are we living on the same planet? The feeling I had is that as a foreigner who struggled with poverty my whole life, and them being Dutch nationals who never had to struggle in their life, they had a really poor judgment of character and made the decision without even considering my extensive knowledge of 16 years of experience, all relevant to the position, and my true honesty about my background and what I could do to help the company in all matters, showing that I knew technologies they were not even aware of in their own field. They used biased decisions from their own limited view of migrants and what we have to do just to pay the bills and be accepted. We need to be 20 times better than locals who barely do some basic research in their own field and still have the audacity to judge and say that they have multiple nationalities in their team. But I ask myself: Are you really integrating these people and really making them welcome? Are you making your hiring decisions without bias based on your limited personal experiences? Do you have someone experienced in your team to handle foreigners? You have a whole team of research and development, and yourselves, responsible for the security of the product, don't do it yourselves? Have you ever seen the level of innovation in Europe and startups compared to other nations? Europe is going downhill in this and all matters. "In January, ASML hinted that it could look to move in response to controversial Dutch plans to scale back tax breaks for high-skilled migrants and limit the number of foreigners who can attend Dutch universities. 19 Apr 2024" Your company has the same mentality. We are in the era of knowledge. That's why you see a lot of big players fighting to win the AI war, because they want to steal all the ideas, as European colonizers always did during their whole existence. But we, foreigners, are not taking it anymore. Either you start understanding and stop using us as cheap labor, or good luck with the future and one of the worst natality rates in the whole world. You went out there in the world just caring about yourselves, now things are changing because we will do the same. And we have all the resources. You don't.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked about technologies i worked with, about silly things on the daily job like updating browser and devices.
