    Online Assistant Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Stoke-on-Trent, England
    Accepted Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at J Sainsbury (Stoke-on-Trent, England) in March 2020.

    Interview

I applied online and had to do an online assessment of about 20 questions, they were really straightforward. They go off test scores so don't ask for a CV. As soon as I completed the online application I got an email saying I had an interview, which I just had to pick a time from the available options. The interview was for the following week. When I got there there was one other person being interviewed but it wasn't a group interview. We were sat in a room with the manager who told us about what was going to happen, he said there was a shop floor assessment and a 1 to 1 interview. Another member of staff came in and gave us details about the shop floor assessment. She didn't make eye contact with me only with the other girl so I thought she was favouring her for the role. I was taken out to do it while the other girl had her 1 to 1 interview with the manager (then we switched after I got back) the shop floor assessment was to pick items of the shelves and put them in the correct boxes, you're given a list of what to get. Everything is explained so its not hard. They want to see is you can pick over a certian amount within 10mins thats how to pass the test. After that I went and had my one to one interview with the manager and the member of staff took the other girl out for her shop floor assessment. The questions were super simple only 3 of them, the manager also asked about uniform size and what right to work you had.
Make sure you research the company and be confident.

    Customer Trading Manager Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience

    Interview

I initially applied through Sainsbury’s website for this position and completed an online application. I was then invited to complete a video interview which consisted of answering pre-recorded questions on video within a certain timeframe, while this was a bit foreign and unnatural, the questions were basic interview questions. Following this I was invited to a face to face interview with the branch’s Store Manager and Operations Manager. The interview was relatively relaxed, the store manager was leading through using a booklet. I was asked 5 questions and asked to expand where necessary, the interview lasted about 20 minutes. I didn’t receive a response within the timeframe advised to me therefore I called up and was told that I was unsuccessful.

    Interview Questions

    • Why would you like to work for Sainsbury’s?   Answer Question
    • Give an example of a time where you received a setback and how you stayed motivated?   Answer Question
