I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kira Systems in Jul 2018
Interview
Interesting and to be fair a much lenient and straight forward simple process. Though they take a long time to process after an interview but people were generally very nice, i was applying from India and they were generous enough to be willing to sponsor the Visa and Relocation fee.
First round was a general Introduction, Second a take home test , Code Review of your code live, then a code review of some other code written by some one else. That is as far i was able to reach there must be a couple of round still remaining before getting the offer letter.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kira Systems (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2017
Interview
Started with a phone screening interview with HR. Very down to earth and easy to talk to. Follow up was within a few days to proceed to an in-person sit down with the team.
2nd week: Went in to speak with team leads to talk about skills, experience, etc. as well as technical test.
3rd week: Contacted for an offer.
4th week: Met with the CEO (Noah) to get a better understanding of the company (and for his final approval)

Overall, it seemed a bit long of a process, but I'm assuming this is standard practice for filtering through candidates. People were friendly. Location is conveniently located (10-15 minutes walk from union or ~7 minutes to Osgoode or St. Andrew TTC station). Building is a bit on the dated side (nice charm? or not-modern?), and the company is spread over three floors (expect lots of walking and stairs!). Signage wasn't great, so I was little lost at first but eventually found the place.

Interview
Fairly standard interview process that spanned over the course of a month. HR reached out to me to discuss my current role and salary expectations. This was followed up with a code quiz to completed at your own pace with a corresponding code review on coderpad.io. While the hiring manager stated that the goal of the coding exercise wasn't to test algorithmic trivia I was asked several questions about the algorithmic complexity of my solution. Response times from Kira Systems is abysmal at best - with both HR and the hiring managers spending up to an entire week just to respond to a single email.
It's clear that Kira Systems doesn't have their hiring practices well defined and that while they claim to want to hire software engineers they're really looking for computer scientists. Don't waste your time with these folks.
