Applied online and invited to an assessment centre in Whitely. The assessment day was well organised and the interviewers were very nice, which gave me a really good impression of the company. 2 weeks after the assessment centre I got an offer from the company. I accepted it through a phone call and I asked HR people that I am worried I might not pass the security clearance as I am a foreign national. They assured me multiple times there is no problem which I believed. A month before my start date they withdrew my offer because I didn't pass the security clearance. I was devastated as I thought I had the job and I had turned down offers from other companies at this point. I think this situation would have been avoidable if the HR team knew who they were recruiting and what they were doing. I sincerely hope the HR team work more professionally next time checking candidates eligibility before giving them an offer.
