    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Linklaters (New York, NY (US)) in January 2017.

    Interview

There was a three stage interview process. The first was an aptitude test, then there was a physical interview and a videoconference interview. At the physical interview I completed a pretty difficult etray exercise. The final interview was based on this exercise, and I was asked technical questions about my responses on the etray exercise. I found this to be moderately difficult.

    Summer Associate Interview

Anonymous Employee in New York, NY (US)
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Linklaters (New York, NY (US)) in August 2012.

    Interview

The callback interview totalled 4 hours: HR person, 3 partners, 1 associate, each for 30-40 minutes.

The part with HR was somewhat the most difficult because they asked me somethings that I wasn't prepared for such as "tell us about a way you solved a problem in an imaginative, creative way."

The interviews with the partners were very different one from the other.
The first one was more formal, kind of what I was expecting. I got to ask many questions.
The second partner actually tasked, "what do you want?"
The third partner was the co-managing partner for the NY office.
Overall, all the partners were very inviting and laid back.

The last person I met with was a mid-level associate, she basically just answered questions about her work and involvement with summer associates.

    Interview questions:

    HR behavioral questions:
What did you like about your undergraduate? About your 1L?
A moment you are proud of?
A moment where you solved a problem in an imaginative way?
How do you start a new project, what do you do?
What is important for you about the people you work with?
Worked in a team lead by someone else?
A difficult situation you managed by yourself?
What would I see if you were stressed out?
What types of situations put you under pressure?
    Describe a good week.

One of the partners' questions was, Why Linklaters?

    Summer Associate Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY (US)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Linklaters (New York, NY (US)) in August 2012.

    Interview

Interviewed on campus and got a call back to interview at the NY office. The interview was fairly standard except for a situational component in which they make you memorize a scenario and then explain how you would handle it. The senior attorney tells you everything you propose will not work, so you have to keep coming up with things. The worst part was they gave that to you before your first interview and then you weren't quizzed until the end of the day.

    Senior Accounts Payable Specialist Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Warsaw (Poland)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Linklaters (Warsaw (Poland)) in February 2018.

    Interview

I first had a phone interview which then followed and as an invite to their office in Warsaw. They did not cover the travel costs. I was told that there would be their Finance Manager and a german-speaking HR Specialist would be present. Plus, I was not given any explanation why they would not be able to test my German where I was specifically told that they would. Instead, the team leader of Uk AP was present and the first question he asked me was. " So you are working in Accounting for only two months. This was already big hint of what was coming. My resume was in front of him and he did not even know that I was working for almost two years. The questions of the Finance Manager was even more baffling, as she asked me if I wanna stay in Poland and why did I not opt out to work in Germany? Bunch of silly questions. Long story short, I would highly NOT recommend Linklaters as a company to work for. Such a waste of time, that one hour was!
